This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in his studio with oil paint on a 14”x11” gesso primed canvas panel.

This studio painting was started in January, 2023 & finished in May. The same subject as Dry Creekbed #1, but painted in oils instead of watercolor. At the time, Conrad had been watching a bunch of large format painting demo’s on the internet by fine artist Turner Vinson & he was itching to try a heavy impasto painting style outside his comfort zone. It’s not a palette knife painting, but he did have fun loading his brushes up with what for him was a ton of paint! He also took the opportunity to try scratching the surface of the wet canvas in places with a piece of wire that added to the texture of the painting. In the future, he’s excited about exploring a lot more images employing this technique.
