This is a reproduction of a 7” x 10” plein air watercolor painting on an Arches 100% cotton Hot Press 140 Lb Watercolor Block by Wm Conrad Bowen.

Last year Conrad’s goal on the family vacation up at Tony Grove Lake in Logan Canyon, Cache Valley, Utah was to start and finish two plein air paintings in one day. He started this one about 11:00 in the morning & finished it about 1:30pm. He took a break for lunch, & started the second one about 2:30pm (See: "Tony Grove Campsite #19"). In the afternoon, there were blue skies with big billowing clouds overhead intermittently threatening rain drops. With quick short bursts of wind in the tops of the pine trees the drops started falling in earnest & Conrad had to quickly gather up his camp chair & little portable table, art pad, paints & brushes and flee for cover in the pickup! The weather changed the outcome of the day. He didn’t accomplish his total goal – but it was a good painting day. He was happy with how this painting turned out & got half-way into the second one.
