"Pinto Pony" #1

This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in his studio with oil paint on a 14”x11” gesso primed canvas panel.

Last time Conrad checked, this brown & white pinto pony was pastured with a couple other horses on the west side of the road near 8930 S 100 W, Paradise, Utah 84328. He painted two studio paintings of this pony between March - May 2023. In 55 years, Conrad has not painted with oils as much as he has with watercolors or acrylics so the purpose of this venture was to dive into this time-tested medium while the opportunity still exists. With a palette of new paints, a hand-full of brushes, different sized art boards & canvasses, that’s just what he did. The results: it really doesn’t matter what he paints with — as long as he gets to paint! The experience just broadens his scope of options when the creative juices start to flow & he wants to express an image developing in his mind on a two-dimensional surface.
