"Shaun's Bale-Loader Tractor"
17”x11” Full-Color Fine Art Edition Printed on White 80 Lb Paper Cover Stock
This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in a bound 5.25” x 3.5” Tumuarta Watercolor sketchpad he carries regularly in his cargo pants pocket.
In early May, Conrad painted “Shaun’s Bale-Loader Tractor” in his watercolor sketchbook. At the end of May, Conrad attended the annual Paradise Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast. While at the breakfast, Conrad asked if Shaun was there. Someone in the crowd responded yes, and pointed to where he was sitting. At first, Conrad didn’t recognize him, then, it all came together. In the last forty-years he’d fleshed out a bit and grayed at his temples and he looked just like his dad, Paul and his Uncle Scott! After Conrad gathered his pancakes, eggs and ham on his paper plate, he sat down across the picnic table under the pavilion with Shaun. When Conrad introduced himself, Shaun said “ya, I remember you, your Gary Bowen’s son”. As Conrad showed him his sketchbook, and thumbed to his bale-loader page, he said “hey, that’s my tractor, did you paint that?” In the conversation, Shaun said he still runs cattle and keeps the farmland like his dad did year ago.
