Conrad painted this scene of the old Ken Curtis Dry Farm on location west of Paradise, Utah on the Mount Pisgah Road about 2 miles west of the Little Bear River Bridge in the early afternoon on his birthday in 2023. That evening, Un-be-known to him, his wife & daughters had planned a surprise 70th birthday party & art show for him in Paradise inviting life-long friends & family. While Conrad & Paula painted 100 yards east of the trees by the side of the road, a car coming from the west abruptly stopped between the two trees. Another truck passed the car & when the driver saw they were painting, stopped to chat with them. In the middle of the conversation, the car started up & sped past them in a blur…. Later, at the party, one of their daughters confessed it was her & she was very concerned about being the one to blow cover for the surprise birthday party!
