This acrylic painting was proceeded by a 4” x 6” plein air B&W sketch In Conrad’s sketchbook and an 8” x 10” studio watercolor on 140 lb textured watercolor paper. The B&W sketch was drawn on location in August, 2018, while on an annual family camping trip at campsite #27 at Tony Grove, Utah, the 8” x 10” watercolor was painted in his studio in January 2019 and this acrylic painting was painted in January 2025 in his studio. Shortly after this camping trip, Keeper, Rachael’s faithful Boarder Collie passed away. Rachael’s always been heartbroken. Near the completion of this painting, Conrad decided to add Keeper into the painting. Naming this painting just followed a natural sequence.
