Wm Conrad Bowen painted this watercolor in a bound 5.25” x 3.5” Tumuarta Watercolor sketchpad he carries regularly in his cargo pants pocket so he can start painting anywhere on the spot.
“Nothing is more fun than goin’ to the Bountiful Splash Pad with your daughter & your grandkids.” Conrad says. “That’s just what we did on a beautiful summer afternoon! I took my watercolor sketch pad & started a plein air painting on the spot. It got hot & the kids got tired & we had to leave — but I got a few reference photos on my cel phone so I could finish the sketch in my studio.”
He says “I still struggle with likenesses, & anatomy & I’m working on that. But, I think I was able to capture the general feeling of a relaxing moment sitting near the water’s edge, hearing the water rolling down the spillway & splashing into the shallow pad in front of me & behind them.”
