This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in his studio with watercolor on a 30”x18” stretched sheet of 140 lb textured cold pressed watercolor paper.
In this fourth version, Conrad had fun in a larger format exploring a liberal color palette & values. Starting the painting laying down bright washes in the shadows on a stretch sheet of bright white textured watercolor paper with Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, Phthalo Blue & Prussian Blue was a pretty intense experience. Tinting the cloud cover with a touch of pink toward the end of the painting helped tie the whole thing together. What do you think?
