This is the fourth of four images that Conrad has created of the Olsen Granary located near 9200 S 100 E, Paradise, Utah. This adventure started as a sketchbook drawing and watercolor painting on location in early August, 2019. As a result he’s generated four original pieces of art . They include the following:
A) Pen and ink drawing (Olsen’s Granary #1);
B) Small watercolor painting (Olsen’s Granary #2);
C) Oil painting on canvas (Olsen’s Granary #3);
D) and this Larger watercolor painting (Olsen’s Granary #4).
In this fourth version, Conrad had fun in a larger format exploring a liberal color palette & values. Starting the painting laying down bright washes in the shadows on a stretch sheet of bright white textured watercolor paper with Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, Phthalo Blue & Prussian Blue was a pretty intense experience. Tinting the cloud cover with a touch of pink toward the end of the painting helped tie the whole thing together. What do you think?
