Wm Conrad Bowen created the original artwork with gouache paint on a 13” x 17.5” illustration board.
This is the second of four interpretive images Conrad created from a 29.5” x 37.5” oil painting on wood-panel of the same name by Bronzino c, 1550 which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Conrad’s four images came as an assignment from Marion Hyde while studying at Utah State University in the mid-1970s to create four interpretation's of an existing piece of art by a historical artist in four different mediums. The mediums Conrad chose were: 1. graphite pencil on drawing paper , 2. gouache paint on illustration board (this image), 3. black pen, colored pencil & acrylic wash on illustration board, and 4. oil paint on stretched canvas — reproductions of each are available from this website.

Conrad & Paula sell original art as well as custom reproductions of your choosing. If there is something you really want and don’t see that it’s available – don’t hesitate to ask about it.
