This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in his studio with acrylics on a 24”x18” gesso primed stretched canvas.
Conrad painted this image in his studio from reference photos he took with his cel phone on location. When he took the photos, he was painting another image (see “Neil Tams Farm - Winter” at 1to1Greetings.com) in a plein air competition.
The approximate location reference for this painting is looking south from 7800 S 300 West, Paradise, Utah 84328. It’s a view from the old Neil & Verda Tams farm. Their daughter Jeneile lives in the homestead now. When Conrad was an infant, Jeneile used to babysit him, so they go way back in time. In the background of the image on the far left you can see Powder Mountain & on the far right Mt Pisgah. One of Conrad’s intents with this painting was to apply the paint thin so the viewer could see the texture of the canvas & the brush strokes on the canvas. Winters in Paradise are shivering cold, another intent was to convey the surrounding chill & retirement of the sprinkler pipes for the season!
